Environmental Services
The Inspector, Home Inspection Services Inc. offers air quality and radon testing services throughout the Vancouver area. This service is typically conducted during a home inspection.
Air Quality Testing
Our air quality testing process includes collecting a minimum of two Air-O-Cell samples: one outdoor sample for comparison and at least one indoor sample. These samples are sent to the EMSL lab, where results are provided based on your selected turnaround time.
We charge a $200 testing fee, which applies when the test is conducted during a home inspection. Additional lab fees are determined by the number of samples taken and the chosen turnaround time.
If air quality testing is not part of a home inspection, please contact Nancy for our pricing details.
Why Should You Test For Air Quality?
Indoor air pollution can be difficult to detect by smell alone. For your health and safety, you want to find out what might be lurking in the air. Indoor air quality testing measures the air for things such as allergens and molds. The tests can determine whether the air quality of your indoor air is safe or dangerous. We work with EMSL Analytical, Inc. One of North America’s leading environmental testing firms. Air-o-cell tests can detect: fungi (mold), bacteria (Legionella, E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, etc), mycotoxins, endotoxins, allergens, pollen, and particulates.

Radon Testing
Radon is a naturally occurring colourless, odourless, radioactive gas that is released when uranium breaks down in soils and rocks. Radon released from the ground into outdoor air gets diluted and is therefore not harmful. However, radon is a problem in indoor settings, where it can build up and pose a risk to your health. Due to geological factors, some areas in British Columbia have naturally higher surface levels of radon than others. Many of these areas are in the Interior and Northern parts of the province. However, indoor radon accumulation can vary widely from building to building, even in the same neighborhood. Even if you live in an area with generally lower levels of radon, it is still recommended to test your home for radon. Testing is the only way you can determine if you have a radon problem. If you do, then it is easily remedied.
Our high-tech radon testing kit needs to be set up undisturbed for a minimum of 24 hours. The longer the kit stays in the home, the more accurate your test results will be. Please contact Nancy for pricing.
