How Drones Have Become an Important Tool for Vancouver Property Inspections

An occasional problem that comes up in property inspection is the inspector’s ability to access certain areas of the property. Some of the most inaccessible areas are those that are up high, things like roofs, chimneys, ducts and other out-of-reach elements. These parts of the property should still be examined in a comprehensive property inspection. Thankfully this is an area that has recently seen a great deal of improvement thanks to advancing technology, specifically drones. In today’s blog we will be looking at how drones have become an important tool for Vancouver Property Inspections.
Drones represent one of the most significant technological developments in the property inspection industry. They are primarily used to survey areas like rooftops, chimneys, high siding, windows, skylights and other hard to reach places on a home.
You may be surprised to learn that drones can be used to identify issues like roof damage, clogged or damaged gutters and damaged flashing. This makes their use in Vancouver property inspections very important as they can make sure that a property’s water protection is up to snuff. Drones can also be equipped with moisture meters so they can check what areas might be prone to excess moisture build up and thus be vulnerable to mold or other moisture related issues.
Because drones offer a bird’s-eye view, they can also provide an aerial overview of the entire property and can enable inspectors to do things like confirm property lines or take aerial photographs. Photographs and videos taken by the drone can allow property owners or prospective property owners to see the condition of the property themselves.
Drones can be equipped with a wide variety of sensors to assist in some non-visual aspects of an inspection. These include things like equipping drones with thermal imaging cameras that allow the drones to detect heat variances that cannot be spotted by conventional means and can reveal hidden problems in the home like leaks, insulation issues or electrical problems. Drones can also be equipped with gas sensors to detect harmful gasses like radon.
It is plain to see that drones have given home inspectors a whole new arsenal of tools to perform property inspections so they can give their clients the best possible overview of the property.
The Inspectors is a group of very experienced home inspectors who bring reliability and integrity to the practice of home inspection. These inspectors follow closely the established standards of the Canadian National Association of Certified Home Inspectors.
