Home Inspector Licensing Program
Our Home Inspection Licensing Program is designed to raise the bar. While other courses meet minimum requirements, we exceed them — offering 175 hours of instruction, personalized coaching, and field training with active, working inspectors. This is not the cheapest course available — and that’s exactly the point. It’s built for people who are serious about becoming confident, capable, and liability-aware professionals from day one.

Congratulations on taking the first step toward becoming a licensed home inspector in British Columbia. This program has been carefully developed to provide the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional awareness required to succeed in this field.
Led by experienced inspectors with deep backgrounds in construction, architecture, and home inspection, this course bridges theory with real-world practice. You'll gain a strong understanding of building systems, inspection methodology, BC’s regulatory requirements, and industry standards of practice.
This course includes:
- 175 hours of classroom-based and online instruction
- 75 hours of supervised field training
- Ongoing assessments to help prepare you for the NHICC Test Inspection with Defect Recognition (TIDR) and final licensing exam
You’ll learn how to identify and document deficiencies, communicate clearly with clients, and uphold the standards of professionalism expected of a licensed home inspector. This is a challenging course — but one that will prepare you for a successful and respected career in the industry.

Shawn Anderson
National Home Inspector (NHI), Certified Master Inspector (CMI), and Certified Property Inspector (CPI) with over 25 years of experience in custom home construction and more than 15 years as a full-time inspector. Shawn is the owner of The Inspector, one of BC’s most highly regarded inspection companies.
Jeff LeMay
National Home Inspector (NHI) with nearly 2,000 completed inspections, a background in architecture and cabinetry, and years of experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). Jeff’s detailed approach and teaching ability make him an invaluable mentor.
